I'm not aware of any domain requirements for Windows 7. If the AD domain supports XP or Vista or even Windows 2000, you should be fine.

Hello,
The requirement is with the edition. In fact, you should use one of the following: Enterprise, Professional or Ultimate.
If you use one of them, you will be able to add your Windows 7 computers to your AD domain with no problems.

You can use the MDT 2012 to roll out windows 7 easily. The minimum domain requirement install Active directory to automate the deployment
process use WDS and DHCP roles.

Check the below articles.

Thank you for the replies.
So can we successfully deploy Windows 7 in an AD Domain currently running (upgrade in the pipeline) Windows 2000 DCs (Native Mode)?
If it is possible, would it then just be a case of recreating any existing Roaming Profiles?

Hi GlenV,
We might encounter some problem while deploying Windows 7 clients in Windows 2000 domain.

As long as joining to W2K domain is concerned, there should be no problem. You should have DNS properly configured on both domain controllers and the client (static or via DHCP). Your basic functions will work without issues, but some of the advanced features
won't be manageable through the server (Like some GPO settings for Windows 7).
Please note that you can't join any of the home or starter editions of Windows 7 to any domains.Imran
