Does Windows 10 file sharing use Samba server?

This is probably the wrong forum so I apologize, but can someone answer a questions for me.  Why would a windows 10 machine be running a Samba server?  Is it for file sharing purposes?  I don't recall ever installing a Samba server, yet a paranoid user on my network is freaking out cuz his Linux system is telling him there's a Samba server on my machine.

Thanks for any input!

Hi

No, for file and printer sharing samba is the Linux/open version for the SMB/CIFS protocol. Windows use it's own.

In example if you make a domain controller, from memory samba branch 3.x can simulate a nt4 domain, while 4.x branch can simulate a windows 2000 domain.

If the user share a folder (or simply the "public" share), somehow a linux scan can easily tell it's a open samba.
