Does Azure host DNS?

Hello

First of, im quite new to the whole website world

A quick backstory: I bought a domain and hosting for 1 year from Winhost. I quickly found out that azure was better for my needs, so i cancelled my hosting (not the domain, since i still want to keep this) and got the money back from this. What i didnt know was, when i cancelled my hosting i also cancelled the DNS host server. So right now i have a domain which im not able to redirect to my azure website since its not being hosted anywhere.

My question is then. Does azure host DNS? I saw this article, but i was not quite sure if it is what i need? https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/dns-getstarted-create-dnszone/

If not, how do i come around my problem? How good are the freedns websites?

I think you're what you want is adding a custom domain to your Azure Website or Cloud Service.

You can see here for more information about how to set that up.

Well i did that before i cancelled my hosting, and that worked fine. But as soon as the cancellation was completed, i cant configure the dns no more. I wrote an email to the support as i was confused about this, and this is the answer i got back

"FYI, DNS, is part of the web hosting package. You can put the nameservers for your new host and configure your DNS there."

If I understand correctly then Azure DNS is the thing that can help you. With that you will use the Azure Dns servers for you domain.

The link you posted should get you started, the part about delegating your domain will also explain how to set it up:
