Distrubuted Application, health rollup to warning

Hello,

I have created a DA containing web. availability monitor, 4 Windows services and three iis web sites. The DA it self monitors Our service just fine, but not all event should be considered Critical, wich is where my problem starts.

Two of the web sites tou can find in the admin Component Group could go Down and still service our users. Therefor i would like this to reflect the Whole service in warning state, not Critical.

I have overidden the web site availability monitor to create a warning alert. This Works fine, and alert in the console has warning severity, but in DA diagram view the web site and top Level is in Critical state. Changing Component Groups serverity in DAD does not seem to work.

Any ideeas appreciated,

Martin

Hi,

Do you mean the web site monitor is showing wrong state under DA diagram view, if that is the case, will re-creating the DA can resolve the issue?

In addition, you may check the link below regarding to SCOM 2012 Distributed Application Rollups issue:

Hello,

Yes, web site monitor is overrided to warning serverity, for one of the web sites present in this DA. When i stop the web site, DA is in Critical state.

I created a New DA With the same web sites. Still Critical if i stop them

Hi,

Would you please re-check the web application status under Application Monitoring, Web Application Availability Monitoring?

Here is how the monitor will appear based on your alert configuration:
  • Healthy state=Green
  • Error state=Yellow
  • Warning state=Red

Thank you for your answer Yan,

I totally forgot this thread. I will try to explain my self a bit clearer.

We have a web service which contains multiple monitored objects in SCOM. Since we wan't to monitor this service as a whole, DA is the best option. My problem is that the IIS web sites in this application/service has it's own "iis web site availability monitor" which enters critical state when it's stopped etc. That's all fine by it self, but when these three sites is load balanced customers using this service will still see that it is online, even when one iis web site is down.

What i was trying to do is to make the DA it self roll up to a Warning state if one of the sites went down. This way we will see an alert, but still know that the service is up and running.
