I hope this is just something simple that I am overlooking. I have Server 2008 R2 installed on my laptop, however, the screen does not function. The problem is, I have it connected to a 17" square monitor and I cannot see the entire desktop.

Hello, this seems to be a driver problem. The problem is that it is not easy to find 2008 R2 drivers for laptops. Try to install Windows 7 graphic driver for your laptop and check if it works. Personally, I recommand that you run your server in a virtual environment that supports 64 bit OS like VMWARE Workstation.
