Disjoin domain
We have one local domain without any forest and any child domain. Now, we'd like to disjoin domain to the two domains first one will be only domain (A), second (B) will contain 3-4 child domains.
What is prefered way to do this:
a) Disjoin currently domain, and on second (B) new domain create sub-domains
b) Create subdomains and then disjoin domains?
Main idea is to share resources, so once when domains will be disjoined there must be a trust between them.
Id also need any documentation for disjoint domain.
Thnx

Hello, your posting is not that clear. If you have a single domain like domain.com, then this is the forest domain. Automatically when you promote a server to Domain controller you create a forest. So please describe your current setup with names please. You talk about 2 domains A and B, but have only ONE domain????Best regards

Hi Meinolf,Sorry for late response. I'll to explain it further. Now we have domain A and technical request is create another domain B (trust with domain A) and their subdomains (B-1, B-2, B-3). I'm wondering what is prefered way: disjoin domain A to currently domain A and new domain B, and then B-X subdomains, or create subdomain A-1, A-2, A-3, and then disjoin domains and subdomains connect to new B domain? After first scenario will be arranged, I need some documentation what to do with critical steps.Thnx for your help.James.

Hello, what do you mean with disjoin domain A? If you have a current forest/domain like domain.com and now need another domain, domain2.com you can either built this in the existing forest with that name or create a complete new forest/domain with domain2.com.So please use the documents provided by Mervyn about designing your structure.Best regards
