Directory Shares
I've set up a 2008 Server as a workgroup fileserver with no domain. The server is on a 192.168.10.0 subnet and XP clients on that subnet can connect to the shares. However, XP/sp3 clients on a 192.168.11.0 subnet can not connect to the server shares although they are able to ping the server. The router allows traffic between subnets. The XP client firewall allows file/printer sharing and simple file sharing is unchecked. On the server, network discovery is turned on. I've tried \\serverIP\shared directory and \\servername\shared directory. Why can't clients on the .11 subnet access the shared folders on the server?mcse

Possibly routing problem. Can you try running route print from one machine on the .11 subnet and post the output? Can you traceroute to a computer on the .10 subnet from a machine on the .11 subnet?Salvador Manaois III MCSE MCSA CEH MCITP | Enterprise/Server Admin Bytes & Badz : http://badzmanaois.blogspot.com

Are your clients part of the domain? Try adding the DNS suffix of the domain in the TCPIP, DNS settings.hope this helps
