Did you mean dictionaries fast esp

Hi,

FAST ESP OOB provides multiple dictionaries for "Spell Correction for Words" in Did you mean in SBC--> Search Profile settings--> Query Handling section.

By selecting multiple dictionaries it should return me spell corrected words for multiple languages in sfe while hitting incorrect words as query, but I don't see the behavior working.

For Eg: In SBC I have English and French dictionaries selected  for Spell Correction for Words. While searching for an italic word "Foglio" I get a "did mean for folio", but no french alternative for the keyword searched.

Is it default behavior? why do we have the option to select multiple dictionaries if the  feature doesn't work as expected in SBC.

Hi,

I am not sure what if what you are trying to achieve is possible. My believe that the Spell checking dictionary to be used is selected based on the query language.

I would wait for others to pour some more information as it's been long since I worked on FAST ESP.

Hello Santanu,

It is accurate that you can only use one language at a time, and the language being used will be dependent on the query itself.  If the query language parameter is &language=en then the English language will be used for word suggestions.  Similarly, if the query language parameter is &language=fr then the French language will be used for word suggestions.

To change this behavior, one would have to use a custom solution involving changes to the qtf-config side, which would not officially be supported.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks!
