Desktop shortcut problem

Hi all,

I have a shortcut of a bat script file on Desktop. It will be used for many times a day. After the login session has been used for a long time (a few weeks), no matter which desktop shortcut icon I click on, they will all run that bat
script.
However, when I login remotely using another session, it is normal. Also, it will resume normal when I logout the abnormal session and login again.
I could find any fix or solution by using so many keywords to search on the Internet. Can someone help me on my situation?
Thank you so much.

My OS Platform:
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (R1)

Regards,
Jeff

Sounds like the profile may be corrupt. You can create a new account with local administrative rights, logon with new account, then after saving off docs, etc. from corrupt/abandoned profiles use
Control Panel|Users and Passwords and delete the old profile stores. Then when you next logon a new profile is created from an image in
\default user

Hi Dave Patrick,
Do you mean that I have to create a new account and delete the old account? Or I should delete the profile (in somewhere?) of the old account using another account?
However, I cannot delete the old account due to various reasons on application.
Thanks,
Jeff

What I suggested was deleting profile store from another account.

You can try creating a new user account and logon as the new user to see the effect.

It's difficult to find the culprit. Since the user login for such a long time (a few weeks) without logout. There might be some updates need installed or something else. If the issue happen again, I suggest you use the

Process Monitor to capture the processes, see which process got failed and redirect to run that script.
