Deploying Lync 2013 Pro Client - created Lync OCT file, cannot find .msi to deploy via GPO!

Hi,

As above, I am deploying Lync 2013 onto 100 machines approx that already have Office 2010 Pro Plus installed. Looks like the only option is to install it via Group Policy. I have created the Lync 2013 OCT file using these instructions as these were the closest to my goals (for lync 2013 basic install):

http://unifiedme.co.uk/2013/04/silent-installation-of-lync-basic-2013-client/

Now, I am trying to find the beloved Lync 2013 msi file but I am racking my brains now. No where to be found and searched for the folder on my machine where the msi folder is. C: \ Program Files (x86) \ OCSetup No where to be found. How am I going to do this without going into writing a script/zap file (using .exe)?

Software - Lync 2013 Pro (Lync 2013 Servers installed) - Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 - Office 2010 Pro Plus SP1

DC - 2008 R2.

hope you can help.

Hi, can anyone assist on this?

I tried using the Office 2010 OCT also on the off chance i could get an MSI from it. I also need to push out the updates with the install, as I cant do it with WSUS as the server is down.

Cheers

Hi,

As far as I know, we can install the Lync client on a machine, and then go to the folder C: \ Program Files (x86) \ OCSetup to get Lync.msi and other installation prerequisite files. As to applying updates, we can modify the same script that was used to install the clients to achieve our target.

The following article provides a specific guide for how to install Lync clients and how to apply updates via GPO.

Hi Frank, thanks for your reply. I have searched by C Drive for the OCSetup folder and it is no where to be found. I saw that other people had that issue. I am now looking at scripting as a solution....was hoping for a msi+msp install...

Hi,

Is there any update? Have we deployed the Lync clients successfully? In fact, in the article I provided you, it is recommended that we install the Lync clients via scripts.

Best regards,

Frank Shen

Hi, Turns out that we are now looking at installing SCCM 2012 R2 now. There is a 180 trial if you want to try it?
