Deploying IE8 as a Client App
I'm not sure where to put this, so I picked 'General'. I would like to replace IE6 with IE8 in my Client Apps on SBS 2003 but I don't have a clue where to begin. The only download that I know of is a .exe file and I know that it would need to be unpacked somehow, but I'm not sure if that's possible. Any help would be appreciated. I've used Google and Bing...but can't find a thing! ;-)Merry Xmas!

Hi, Did you mean you want to install IE8 on all your client computers automatically? If so, you can publish this hot fix to all client computers in your environment through WSUS. For more information, I recommend that you refer to the following guide: Step-by-Step Guide to Getting Started with Microsoft Windows Server Update Services 3.0 SP1 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=C8FA2FD1-72F6-4F19-A1B0-F689DAE14BE6&displaylang=en If you have any issue with WSUS, you can initial a post in the following forum so that you can get the most qualified pool of respondents. Vincent,Thank you kindly for your reply. I know about WSUS which is a good solution, but my goal is to become an expert with Small Business Server. If you are familiar with that Version of Windows Server 2003, you will know that by default there are several 'Client Apps' that are automatically installed when you join a computer to the domain using the http://myserver/connectcomputer URL in IE on the client PC. IE6 is one of the Client Apps, but I want to replace it with IE8. This would require creating an installation folder in the 'ClientApps' share with all of the files as you would find them on a CD (setup.exe, .cab files, etc.) and then adding it to the default automatic installation configuration through the Client Apps Wizard.I know that when you download the executable for IE8 from Microsoft and run it, it creates a temporary folder where it unpacks all of the files that I would need to create my ClientApps installation folder. What I don't know is how to save a copy of that temporary directory to the ClientApps share. I believe that once the program installation is complete the temporary folder is 'cleaned up'.Thank you for any further insights you may be able to provide to me.Regards,Wayne
