Deploying EXE windows updates
Currently there is no WSUS in our domain, but i need to deploy an important update to our windows client computer (Windows-KB943729). so that our client pc's can understand the settings i have set in the user configuration > preferences > Windows Settings in the group policy. is there any possible way to automate the distribution of this update without WSUS?

Hi, you could deploy via GPO startup script edit: some links which should help (check them thoroughly as it is quite an old topic): http://msmvps.com/blogs/cgross/archive/2008/12/16/installing-group-policy-preferences-client-side-extensions.aspx http://www.heidelbergit.dk/2008/03/how-to-install-gpp-cses-using-startup.html http://smsimpossible.blogspot.com.au/2008/09/deployment-of-group-policy-preferences.html Don

To deploy EXE files through Group Policies, you should use .MSI packs. Also all the client PCs joined to domain. To create MSI packs, check the KB257718 article. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/257718 I suggest you to use WSUS or Config Manager for patch management. Thanks
