Demoting DNS server
I have a Dell T310 which I installed 2008 R2, and then added a Dell 1600SC running 2003 server to the domain. I promoted the 1600SC and configured it as a primary DNS, but had problems with the replication and a lot of DNS errors, so I demoted
the 1600 back to a member server. I'm not sure why, because I did choose option to remove as a name server, but for some reason the T310 is still looking for the 1600 to replicate with, the T310 now take about 15 minutes to boot, and NSLOOKUP still
shows the 1600SC as a name server.
Is there a procedure to manually remove the 1600 as a name server from AD and DNS in this case?
Thanks
Alvin

Hello Alvin,
To remove all records relating to the specified DC. Use the Nltest tool with this syntax:
nltest /dsderegdns:dc02.contoso.com
