Daylight Question
Hello to all, we have a root and son domain with DCs from both domains on Europe and Brazil (Windows 2008 R2 DCs) and would like to know: 1- If I must apply a cumulative time zone patch (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2633952/en-us - that affects Brazil) just on DCs in Brazil (from both domains) or must they be applied to other DCs in Europe? 2- Is it necessary for the local domain in Brazil (that has just one DC from this domain in Europe) to set different time source (no heritage, have a exclusive time source that gets local time) or its doesn't matter, it will recognize the time zone difference and work just fine? Thanks in advance, EEOC.

Hi, 1. It is fine to install the time zone update on the computers in the problematic time zone. But I will install this update on all my domain computers to keep consistency. 2. It is not necessary to set to sync time with a local time source. The DCs will recognize the time zone difference and work just fine. NTP relies on a reference clock to define the most accurate time to be used and synchronizes all clocks on a network to that reference clock. NTP uses Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) as the universal standard for current time. UTC is independent of time zones and enables NTP to be used anywhere in the world regardless of time zone settings.
