Nope...that's not it...I'll try one more time... Normally when when you put a movie dvd in, regardless if you have codec's installed, you'll see the title of the movie in Windows Explorer and you can drill into the folder structure... When I put a DVD movie in, the drive acts like it's still empty...no title, can't drilling in the folder structure...when I double click on the drive it says there's no cd/dvd....I can eject the drive.... and I can read data dvds....so it's nothing to do with codecs.-SuperDale

Hi, > I've tried another movie...I've tried both movies in another Server box and it worked Whats the OS version of another Server box? Is that also Windows Server 2008 R2? Have you installed Desktop Experience feature on the Windows 2008 R2 Server? Windows Media Player is an optional feature on Windows Server 2008 R2 when you install Desktop Experience feature set. Please install Desktop Experience feature and check the result. Also, I found an article which describes some DVDs cannot be read by Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2. MS provide a hotfix to fix this problem, you may try that also. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2566584 For more information please refer to following MS articles: Windows Media Player and Resulting Internet Communication in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee126087(v=WS.10).aspx Windows Media Player cannot play DVD video. You might need to adjust your Windows display settings. Open display settings in Control Panel, and then try lowering your screen resolution and color quality settings. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-pictures/windows-media-player-cannot-play-dvd-video-you/3d6f9df6-80c9-4415-b947-83a10ce28a72?auth=1 Hope this helps!
