DVD Autorun problems
Hi,First let me apologise if i've got the wrong thread. A PC I built for a customer awhile ago they have just purchased Football Manager 2009 by Sega but itwont autorun and install from DVD also I tried opening the Disk but cannot see any files on the DVD but IF I put a CD in the drive I can open the disk and see files on the disk. I also tried attaching a USB DVD drive and had the same problem seeing files on the DVD.The PC is running Vista updated with SP1, AMD AM2 5000, 1 Gigabyte Ram, MSI Motherboard, SATA DVD Drive & Kaspersky I.S. 2009. I have gone through Kaspersky to make sure it has not blocked the autorun. Please can someone help me or point me in the right direction. Edward DonnellyE & S Computers UK.Eddie

Hi Edward,
1. Can you open this Football Manager 2009 DVD on other computers?
2. Can you see files in other DVDs (Not CDs) on this computer?
I suggest right-clicking your DVD drive in Windows Explorer and clicking Open. Whats the result? If any error message appears, please let me know the exact wording of the error message.
Right-click your DVD drive in Windows Explorer and click Explorer. Can we see the files in it? If so, right-click the .exe installation file and click Run as administrator. Can we install Football Manager 2009 now?
I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Tim,
That was the first thing i tried and couldn't see the files, BUT I could see the files on any CD (note the problem is only with DVD's). IF I drop to good old dos command and DIR I can see the files on the DVD so I'm gonna try putting a IDE DVD drive in the machine to see if that works, I've tried pausing Kaspersky and then put the DVD in the drive but it stillwont autorun after telling it to execute autorun. Its not in Vista's Blocked start list so I'm really stumped on this one. Eddie

Hi Edward,
Thank you for the reply.
First please confirm it is a DVD drive, not a CD drive. Can you run other DVD disks?
Based on the current situation, I suggest trying the following steps to troubleshoot the issue.
Method 1 If you have any third-party CD/DVD-burning software such as Naro or Roxio installed, please temporarily remove them from "Control Panel"-> "Programs and Features".
Method 2 Delete Filter Drivers
======================
1. Click Start, type regedit and press ENTER.
2. Navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
3. Right click the {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} entry, choose "Export", select Desktop in the Save in box and type backup in File Name. Click Save.
Please Note: The backup file is on the Desktop and named backup.reg. We can simply restore the registry by double-clicking the backup.reg file.
4. Highlight this key ({4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}), on the right pane, and then check if Upperfilters and Lowerfilters value are present. If so, please right click on the values and select "Delete" to remove them.
5. Restart the computer.
Method 3 Reinstall the DVD drive
===============================
1. Click Start, type devmgmt.msc and press Enter.
2. Expand DVD drives.
3. Right-click the DVD drive and click Uninstall.
4. Restart the computer.
Hope it helps.
