DNS resolution taking way longer
I have 2 windows 2008 server working as DC/DNS. All the clients machines are windows 7.Auto-configuration proxy.pac file(http://servername/pac/proxy.pac) being used for internet access (IE8) through IIS7 . Now that you know the configuration, here is the issue: browsing the internet, always takes way longer (30-60 seconds)....IE shows "connecting" on the left top corner and shows "detecting proxy settings" at bottom left corner . It takes longer first time only and second time page will load immediately and there's no delay as long as first IE page is left open. when I use nslookup it resolve server name fine. however using ip address of server instead hostname fix the issue rightaway. All network settings seems fine. i also tried add/remove dns suffix list Have anyone seen this kind of issue ? how can i fix it ?

Please go through following steps Ping the server’s IP address to confirm that connectivity to the server and try pinging by computer name and by the server’s fully qualified domain name (FQDN). If you can ping the host by IP address but not by name, check your DNS server to make sure that a Host (A) record exists for the host. Without a Host (A) record, the DNS server will be unable to resolve the host’s name. for further troubleshooting navigate the link to resolve dns issues : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb726934.aspx VP Mishra System Administrator MCP, MCSA, MCSE, MCTS
