DNS problem
hello can you please help me in DNS in windows 2003........ i have installed dns on my server.... but when i ping server to clint machine by IP its working fine... but when i ping server by FQDN name (server name) then not ping DNS server IP add... plz help me

Hi Sourav, I am sorry, but it is very difficult to understand what exactly is going on. Could you please rephrase yourself and try to explain the situation once again. Also, please describe your network topology.

its simple sir ... i have installed DNS on my server ............ after that when i ping server IP to clint machine.. its reply fine....but when i am ping by name to sever its redirected to another IP... means its not working fine when i ping by server name

Hi,
Thanks for posting here.
According to your description. To troubleshoot this issue, You may need to check the server Host(A) record in DNS server and client machine's DNS server setting.
Please do the steps following:
1. Run "nslookup" in a command line on the client.
2. Check whether it's point to your DNS server correctly. If not, please ensure your client's NIC point to the right DNS server.
3. Type the server's FQDN name, Enter.
4. Check it resolves the Server IP address correctly. If not, open the DNS manager on your server, check if the server's Host (A) is exist and correct.
