Please help I have been trying to resolve with no luck. When I first encountered this server when I would launch the DNS console nothing would load red x etc. Now I am at least able to launch but DNS fails. ok i was looking into this is there anyway i can obtain that or do I have to contact the isp? I though providing ip of gateway/router was ok? I also tried google 8.8.8.8 but this error as well. Any tips suggestions? this domain was completely hose dns had for some reason uninstalled originally I didnt have all the folders in dns populate i am worried other stuff is missing as well. My domain controller (not that i set this up mind you) is not visible under sites and services ntds settings I was also worried that the domain controller is DENTALSERVER whereas the computer name is dentalserver wasnt sure if that causes issues...but help! this is what i feared though i wonder if this is true i find it odd that i have been able to restore certain parts of dns just cannot resolve the cname to the server ip...have you looked at my computer name/primary dns suffix/ netbios name does that all look ok? I am worried something somewhere is not matching and causing the issue

You might try dcpromo demotion, in-place upgrade, then dcpromo it again but again probably about the same amount of time to clean install it. Regards, Dave Patrick ....
