Dear All,We have Domain Controller which is running on MS-Windows 2003 with SP2 which is Global Catlog, which is running on very poor hardware we want to make additional domain controller of our existing Domain Controller. But while making the additional domain controller i'm getting error and it is not getting completed, Below is the error which we are getting while making the Additional Domain Controller:The domain name (DOMAIN NAME) might be a NetBIOS domain name. If this is the case, verify that the domain name is properly registered with WINS.If you are certain that the name is not a NetBIOS domain name, then the following information can help you troubleshoot your DNS configuration.The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate a domain controller for domain (DOMAIN NAME):The error was: "DNS name does not exist."(error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR)The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.DOMAINCommon causes of this error include the following:- The DNS SRV records required to locate a domain controller for the domain are not registered in DNS. Hello,1-Make sure the new server that you need to promote to DC has a hardcoded DNS entry of 192.168.0.12-Make sure you specify the FQDN during DC promo such domain.local as oppose to just entering domain3- possible troubleshooting is can you ping both servers from each other respectively?, can you do nslookup from both servers and able to resolve each other..Isaac Oben MCITP:EA, MCSE
