DNS Scavenging Issue.
Hi In my setup we are having Active Directory server with Windows Server 2008 Standard. Recently I found lots of old entries in my Reverse Look up zones. I have enabled scavenging on that zone and kept Non-Refresh interval of 2 days as well as refersh interval of 2 days. As per process i wait for scavenging but it wont happnd. Then I tried to do it manually with scavenge stale records options but still Event 2502 is loged mentioning that scavenge cycle with no old records run and will retry after several hours. I also cheked that all my records has "Delete this record when it becomes stale" option is enabled. I tried to scavenge several times but no success. Reuiqred your urgent help on this. Thanks in advance. Mandar.

Scavenging needs to be enabled in the following places: On the individual resource record that needs to be scavenged. On the zone that needs to be scavenged. At one or more servers performing scavenging. Scavenging needs to be enabled on all these three places only then the scavenging would take place automatically. Most importantly, it has to be enabled on the server only then automatic scavenging would happen. Setting scavenging on the server is done by right clicking the server in the MMC, selecting properties, going to the advanced tab and checking the "Enable automatic scavenging of stale records" checkbox. Please ensure that scavenging has been enabled in all the above three places.
