DNS & DHCP Question
I personally have not seen this before, and if i'm in the wrong forum, i apologize in advance.
On my DNS manager I have two forward lookup zones (i've changed names to protect the innocent).
1 is domain.local
2 is anotherdomain.com
in domain.local it has all of my local computer/servers/etc. in anotherdomain.com it has a single (A) record that points back to my DC for IIS purposes.
here's my question:
Why in my DHCP server does it show my anotherdomain.com and not my server.domain.local? because, i cannot now change any DHCP settings. is there a fix?
TIA,
Kenny

Hello,
i cannot follow your description in the DHCP server, please upload a screen shot to Windows Sky drive and post the link here with open access.
Normally on the top you see the servername.domain.com and not the domain.com or are you talking about the scope options?Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

Hello,
i am not sure but i assume that this is the reason. The new zone with the additional record for the web server will basically add a second "name" for the DHCP console, the new created zone name.
You should move DNS/DHCP to another server and use the machine only for the web server role. This is btw always recommended for machines accessible from the internet, they should be in a DMZ outside from the LAN.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

We only use it for internal web services, it is not seen by the outside.

We only use it for internal web services, it is not seen by the outside. Plus we are a small company and can only afford one server at a time.
