DNS/WINS Resolution
I feel very silly even asking this question but here goes: Recently we were tasked with a new naming convention for our server environment. In order to make the transition smooth, I decided to create A records in DNS for the old server name, thinking that would keep old name references intact until we can sort thru all of them. In this instance, I can ping the old server name. However, resources mapped to the old server name fail (printers, shares, UNC). I took it a step further and created static mappings in WINS. Still no luck. What am I doing wrong?
