DHCP large scope problems
The DHCP server for the school I work at was setup with a huge scope 255.255.0.0 and there are only around 500 devices on the network. We are going to change the scope during downtime at spring break or whenever we can but would it be a benefit to exclude large blocks of IP addresses in DHCP? Thanks for any help

I would include the entire range of IPs in the scope, then use exclusions as needed. If you already follow a standard "range" where you set aside a certain set for fixed IPs (static IPs), then simply create an exclusion in the DHCP scope. Another reason to include the entire range of IPs is because of the use of DHCP reservations. This was not a concern prior to 2008 R2, but it is important now.
