DHCP BPA result: The server should be bound to an IPv6 address

Hi all,

We recently installed a DHCP 2012 R2 and this error is shown by BPA.

All IPv6 features had been removed from this server (maybe some of them are still installed after all).

How could I do in order to resolve this ?

Thank you.

Hi

IPv6 disable is not recommended from ms.You need to configure protocol binding&network provider order.

Hi FXE,

As Burak mentioned, it is not recommended to disable IPv6.

The error means the server is not bound to any IPv6 address and cannot lease IPv6 addresses, or any other network configuration, to DHCP clients. If you are not using IPv6 in your environment, we could ignore the error.

To solve the problem, we could add bindings on the server. Here is the guide:

DHCP: The server should be bound to an IPv6 address:

Hi all,

I've just re-enabled IPv6 on my server, but I cannot bind an IPv6 address in DHCP because no IPv6  address is shown.

Should I specify a static IPv6 address in order to be able to bind it ? And if so, which static IPv6 address should I specify ? (I never used IPv6 before...)

Thank you.

Hi FXE,

If you are not using IPv6 in your environment, there is no need to configure IPv6 address for the server.

Here is the reference for IPv6:

Hi Leo and thank you four your answer.

Effectivelly I don't use IPv6, but BPA still alerts me about there is no IPv6 bind in my DHCP.

So should I specify a static IPv6 in order to have a green BPA ?

Hi Fxe,

It's up to you.

The result in BPA would not affect your network. And you could choose to configure IPv6 address for the server.

Leo
