I have a mission to replace the old AD structure (SBS 2011) with a new one and now with multiple sites in different countries.
We have:
AD Sites and Services
Site A - Subnet: 192.168.44.0/24
Site B - Subnet: 192.168.48.0/24
Site C - Subnet: 192.168.61.0/24
DHCP
Scope 192.168.44.0
Scope 192.168.48.0
Scope 192.168.61.0
My question is: How can I associate a "DHCP scope" to a "SITE"?
My need: Distribute just one specific IP range (Scope) by SITE.
Thank you!
Now
Wait.
Your DC can be a part of one site only.
It cannot belong to all the sites at one time
So each site would have a separate DC.
You can install DHCP on the separate DC's and you would have a separate scope in each site.
Hello,
you can run multiple DHCP scopes without any problem.
You have to use either a DHCP relay agent in each subnet or your switches are able to provide the configuration of an IP Helper entry which specifies the DHCP server to reach in the main site where the DHCP server is located. We use multiple DHCP scopes on our servers for multiple subnets and have all switches configured with the IP Helper entry.
BUT AD sites and services are not used to set up multiple DHCP server scopes.
Correct you are.
I suggested different dhcp server as if one link goes down the whole site would go off dhcp.
