DHCP
I used DHCP to enable laptops users to move from one subnet to another without having to reconfigur their IP addresses. Now the IP address scopes are being depleted resulting in some computers being unable to connect to a new subnet. What can i do to solve the problem without having to alter the network's subnetting?

Possibly shorten the lease period. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc958908.aspx Regards, Dave Patrick .... Microsoft Certified Professional -Microsoft MVP [Windows]

The best approach for wireless clients is to have all of your Access Points on a dedicated VLAN. You can service that VLAN via DHCP, but with a much shorter lease, possibly a few hours. If you are unable to seperate the traffic due to limitations in your network design, you can still have wired and wireless computers coexist on the same segments. However, you will need to greatly reduce the scope lease for all systems. The major downside is that if you only have one DHCP server AND it fails AND you have short leases, you will have a very limited time on getting that DHCP server back on line. A few recommendations: 1) seperate the wireless clients into their own VLAN (shorter lease for wireless scopes, longer leases for wired scopes) 2) set up two DHCP servers using split scopes (50/50). 3) monitor your DHCP servers via network monitoring software.
