DHCP
I use windows server 2003. How can i configure multiple scope on a single DHCP server? I tried the following: Scope 1: IP address range 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.254 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0 Scope 2: IP address range 192.168.25.1 to 192.168.25.254 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0 But scope 2 is not assigning ip address when scope 1 is full. What can be the problem? thanks

Hello, if you use different scopes with /24 subnet you must also have them devide with VLANs or routed networks. So how is your network built? If you have a single LAN then you have to change the subnet mask to get more ip's with the disadvantage of getting a large broadcast domain.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

192.168.25.1/24 is in Scope 1 192.16.0.1/24 that's why you can't configure that scope. So if you have network capable for VLAN you can configures multiple VLAN's

We create scopes in DHCP to offer IP's in segmented LAN. Have you got Vlans with the both scopes. Are the VLAN's configured to provide IP Helper Address(DHCP Server Information). By default DHCP offers IP's to the subnet where the DHCP server resides. If you found this post helpful, please "Vote as Helpful". If it answered your question, remember to "Mark as Answer".
