DFS replication and lost ISCSI connections
Hello everyone We are having a pretty serious issue with 2 of our 2008R2 server. These servers are being used for Citrix Provisioning Services that streams our Xen App servers. The configuration of the server is pretty basic, 6 Nics, Dual Proc/Quad Core and 32G or RAM. 4 of the NICS are INTEL and they are bounded into an LACP channel, the 2 other NICS are used for ISCSI traffic. The 2 storage NICS ARE NOT BONDED and have the Dell EQL Hit kit tools installed and configured on each host. The issue we are having is pretty strange, once we enable DFS replication, after a few hours, the replication partner will loose its connections to the storage array. When you look at the ISCSI control panel, the target is in a status of reconnecting. The strange thing is that when I use the ROUTE PRINT, I can clearly see that the route to the storage array are correct. However, when I perform a trace route, the server is trying to route ISCSI traffic VIA the LAN network. I've also tried to created more specific static routes to the IP's of the array without success. To reconnect to the storage, I've had to disable/enable the storage NICS or reboot the host. Any assistance on this matter would be great. Thanks

Hi, There could be some reason if your NIC and storage drivers are not up-to-date. A Large number of performance issues can be resolved by making sure that you keep drivers up-to-date. So, I recommend you update NIC and storage with latest drivers once.Regards, Ravikumar P

Hi, So the conflict only arises when DFSR is enabled? At the point the issue occurs, could you find any helpful warning/error events in System/Application/DFSR? From DFSR side, please apply the latest hotfix to update the dfsrs.exe: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2678241 Thanks, Brian Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
