DFS Replication

Hi,

Thanks in advance for any help provided. I've now spent a good chunk of the weekend trying to setup up DFS on 3 Server 2012 file servers. I have went through the setup a lot thinking i have performed something incorrectly and have used this article for hte later ones. http://mizitechinfo.wordpress.com/2013/08/21/step-by-step-deploy-dfs-in-windows-server-2012-r2/

DFS is installed and running on all servers, they can all see the namespace and Active Directory has replicated. Previously I had it setup to run yesterday and left it overnight as that would be ample time for at least some of the files to transfer. This obviously hasn't worked hence I am posting this.

The topology has verified successfully.

After running a DFS Replication health report the source server is getting the following error.

Reference member returned no replicated folders.

On the other servers they are getting this error.

This member is waiting for initial replication for replicated folder Data.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi,

Did you set a server as primary server? If not, you may encounter the error message "waiting for initial replication" when no primary member is currently specified on the DFS Replication. This DFS member is waiting for initial replication for replicated share folder Public and is not currently participating in replication.

You could try a command to set another server as primary:

Dfsradmin Membership Set /RGName:<RG Name> /RFName:<RF Name> /MemName:<Member Name> /IsPrimary:True

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I have managed to get it setup on different drives than what I actually need, more for a sanity test than anything else.

What I am looking to Replicate is existing data from server 01 to server 02 (both on the same geographical site) and server03 (different geographical site). This is the one that is not replicating for me and returning the aforementioned errors.

Server01 is set as the primary server.

Again any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Simon
