DC time fall behind 6-7 minutes
Dear Colleagues , We have a Windows 2003 mixed mode domain . I have setup the correct time on Our DCs 5 months ago and everything was fine . After a month the server time has fall behind the legal time causing all clients to get the wrong time . Automatic daylight saving time is not enabled & we do not alter the default setting of Time server. I don't know how this is appearing . Any Help to resolve the issue is appreciated. Regards,

Do you see any errors/warnings in event log on problematic DC ? If yes, please share the details. Also, it would be a good idea to post this question in "directory Services" section of this forum wherein you would likely to get answers much quickly than here. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverDS/threads Thanks, Santosh (MCTS W2K8 AD and SCCM) “ To Infinity and Beyond… ”

Dear Colleagues , We have a Windows 2003 mixed mode domain . I have setup the correct time on Our DCs and PDC also 5 months ago and everything was fine . After a month the server time has fall behind the legal time causing all clients to get the wrong time . Automatic daylight saving time is not enabled & we have not altered the default setting of Time server. I don't know how this is happening & why as if it had to sync with a time server on net then at lease 30 minutes time zone should appear . Any Help to resolve the issue is appreciated. Regards,

Hi, How you have configured your PDC? Is that a physical or virtual box. See the below link for the best practice for configuring a time server. Hi, I would like to make sure whether the issue is related to Active Directory Time Synchronization Problems with Hyper-V. If so, please disable time synchronization under integration services. Here is a link explaining the problem: http://mikefrobbins.com/2010/05/17/active-directory-and-server-time-synchronization-problems-with-hyper-v/ Hope it helps! Regards, Jane

Hi, how is your pdc configured? What is its time source? Are you using a external time source like internet ntp or a physical box (GPS)? Here you find a really good explanation of this topic and how to configure the time in ad via GPO: http://blogs.dirteam.com/blogs/jorge/archive/2010/09/27/configuring-and-managing-the-windows-time-service-part-1.aspx http://blogs.dirteam.com/blogs/jorge/archive/2010/09/27/configuring-and-managing-the-windows-time-service-part-2.aspx http://blogs.dirteam.com/blogs/jorge/archive/2010/09/27/configuring-and-managing-the-windows-time-service-part-3.aspx http://blogs.dirteam.com/blogs/jorge/archive/2010/09/27/configuring-and-managing-the-windows-time-service-part-4.aspx Martin Forch

Is all your DC is running with latest service pack and patches, becasue time to time there were so many hotfixes released for time and other security updates, if they are not applied this can be the cause. Did you configure PDC to sync time from reliable external source, i used time.windows.com from long w/o any issues and port 123 UDP is been opened. You can also take help by enabling debugging log. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/816043 Make sure you followed the below article to configure time service & also there is no other source has been configured for configuring time in the domain like via GPO. How to configure authoritative time server http://support.microsoft.com/kb/816042 http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc773061%28WS.10%29.aspx Regards Awinish Vishwakarma MY BLOG: http://awinish.wordpress.comThis posting is provided AS-IS with no warranties/guarantees and confers no rights.

Dear Friends , Excuse me for the long delay in replying to all of your posts . I have to say that the CMOS battery has no problem . No Time Server has been defined from the scratch and all the settings are default. We do not have the option to set the time with an external time server . As i checked some of the articles that my dear friends has put for me to review , i should mention that our environment is a pure windows based domain . I wanted to ask that how can I configure my PDC to be the source of Time server . In this case I will check the time on it & if there is any difference then manualy set it . In this case client clock will be automatically set . Regards,
