Hi, During the first domain controller installation, it requires the full Domain Name System (DNS) name for the forest root domain. For more detailed steps, please refer to the following Microsoft TechNet article: Steps for Installing AD DS http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc754438(WS.10).aspx Regards,Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hello, for naming conventions see the answer from Arthur LI in: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/winserverDS/thread/a0b0f080-b669-4167-8444-9806af76d01f You should avoid using the TLD(top level domains = .com, .de etc.) internal in the network, better choose .local for example. Otherwise you have to built a split brain DNS setup.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.
