Question the server 2008 r2 is asking for a fqdn name this is a new network install the first domain so im guessing i need to type in the domain name.com is that correct

Hello, for naming conventions see the answer from Arthur LI in: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/winserverDS/thread/a0b0f080-b669-4167-8444-9806af76d01f You should avoid using the TLD(top level domains = .com, .de etc.) internal in the network, better choose .local for example.
