DC is consuming 100% CPU
Hi, We have 2 Microsoft virtual servers acting as domain controllers for about 300 users since last 3 years. They were working fine since last 3 years. But since last week on both servers CPU is always 100%. In task manager I was unable to find any thing so I used Process explorer and System monitor, still I can't find any thing suspecious to find out which exe or process is consuming the bandwidth. Please see the captured screenshots below: http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=aVR0YF9 http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=aVR109i http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=aVR158A I also checked the Host machine, which is fine no errors. Any one please advise, how to check and resolve the issue.

Hi , I see that taskmanager.exe is consming most of the cpu. As a test can you restart the server in safe mode and check if the behavior is occuring ? Also make sure you have thorough virus scan on the server. You can use adplus utility to dump the process stack and anaylze for the root cause. Or else you could call microsoft to perform user mode debugging on the exe.

Hello, in addition to Sainath's great suggestions disable with msconfig all NONE Microsoft services and see if this helps, if yes then enable them step by step to see which one is the problem service.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

As I see you use Kaspersky antivirus (avp.exe). Is it right ? If so, disable it and see if you have the same CPU utilisation. I am sure that the culprit is the antivirus. Change it to whatever you like but not Kaspersky, it seams that what you are experiencing is a very well known problem by the Kaspersky users. P.S. I don't know if you have the same issue, but try to find out the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\atksgt.sys and rename it to atksgt.sys.ren. Restart the computer and this should do the trick.
