Customizing Windows Password Expiration Notification Message
We have an intranet self-service password tool that allows users to reset their password, then have that password change replicate from Windows to UNIX so all of their credentials are synced.
The problem we have run into is that when users just Ctrl+Alt+Del to change their password within Windows (because they get prompted of an eminent password expiration by Windows itself), they
end up only changing their AD password so nothing stays in sync.
What I'm looking for is a way to customize the default "Your password will expire soon" notification within Windows so that I can point them to our intranet site. The first placed I check was
secpol.msc, but the most I can change there is the expiration interval, not the message itself. Any thoughts?

As far as I know, it's not possible to customize "Your password will expire soon" notification within Windows.
I could think of a probable workaround in this scenario, why not send mail notifications to users periodically about their password expiration ?
You may include the the self-service portal URL in the mail and educate users to use the intranet tool to reset both AD and UNIX passwords at the same time.

Try Using regedit, the registry entry which controls this can be found at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon under
PasswordExpiryWarning.

After, push that with a GPP, or a reg import's GPO !

AFAIK, the registry change will not allow Admins to update password expiry notification "message", instead it allows Admins to change default password expiry notice "period" before the password expiration date.
Thanks
