Creating DHCP options
In Server 2000 you can create your own DHCP options. How do I do that in Server 2008 ? The menu option to add options seems to be missing. Thanks, Robert

Robert, Open Server Manager from Administrative tools, then go to >Roles, then select >Add Roles A wizard appears. proceed with the default if you wish till you reach a stage where all the possible roles are available. This is quite handy and its where you can select the DHCP role. Of course you should configure a static IP for your adapter. This is highly recommended. If you press >Next, you will find all the possible options available for configuration like the DHCP Scope. You may accept the default for IPV6 if you dont want or you can configure if it is necessary on your network. After that, the role will be installed and the snap-in will be auto added to the MMC. You may now to >Start, >Admin tools and click on DHCP. The snap in will start and you will find all the possible options like in 2000. the Reservations, the leases, the scopes and server options, the pool and so forth and on. I hope you will find all the answers to your question, Robert. Bornix MSCA, CCAI, CCNA
