Create new Certificate Sihning Request (CSR) without IIS installed?
Hello,
I have a DC with a SSL EV certificate installed (generated by a 3rd party), this is soon to expire. I would like to renew the certificate with the 3rd party but I need to create a new CSR. I am familar with the process of doing this via IIS 6
and IIS 7 however both of these are not installed.
I am being told by the 3rd party tha the only way to generate a new CSR is via IIS, do I really need to install this on our DC just to generate a new CSR or is there another way?
Windows 2008 R2 is the server being used.
Thanks for your help in advance,

You can use the MMC Certificate Manager snap-in and right-click on Certificates node under Certificates (Local Computer) - Personal and select "All Tasks\ Advanced Operations\Create Custom Request"
Or you can use certreq.exe to generate a request, you can follow the steps in this kb article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321051
