Correlate VHDX to Windows Disk

Hello,

Is there a good way to determine which Windows volume/disk corresponds to a certain VHDX? I have some servers that have virtual hard disks of the same size, and it's difficult to determine the correct disk I want to expand, for example. I have resorted to putting the Windows disk label in the VHDX file name to remedy this issue, but it's more of a workaround than anything. Is there something obvious I'm missing?

Thanks

This is one of the reasons that I do label my disks with a name of some sort.

But you must have them in different directories or something - you can't have two files in the same directory with the same name, and if you look in the settings for any VM you will see the path to the disk.  So am I missing something?

All the disks I manage are in the same directory and have different names such as (VMName_DiskLabel_Disk[0-9].vhdx) or (VMName_Disk[0-9].vhdx) depending on the server.

Unless I put the Windows disk label in the file name, I can't tell which disk is which. I was hoping that someone knew of a better way.
