Copy DHCP database from Server 2003 to Server 2008
Hi everyone, I have a question and I hope someone could help me out. I have a Windows Server 2003 DC (Primary) and Windows Server 2008 DC (Secondary/Additional). Currently, the DHCP is installed in the Windows Server 2003 DC. I would like to create a secondary DHCP with the same scope as the primary DHCP in Server 2008. How do I copy and upload the DHCP details to the Server 2008 machine. I've read the articles on migrating Server 2003 DHCP to Win Server 2008, but I am not doing a migration. COuld someone help me? Using the netsh tool would be my first choice to copy/migrate the DHCP database. Once its on the new server, I would make the slight modifications in the scope settings. However, if you simply need to move one scope, it would just make the most sense to log in the 2008 server, and manually create the scope.
