Controlling peer to peer AD/DNS GC-to-GC Replication
Hi,
I have just 2 W2K8R2 servers in peer-to-peer GC setup - works perfectly. AD and DNS. AD Sites and services: Server1 says replicate to / from server2 and Server2 says replicate to / from Server1.
Problem statement: Server1 crashed and the way I recovered was an image from months ago (my bad). Had to - it is also my Legato backup server and a re-install would have been a nightmare. The good news is the IPsec tunnel (site-to-site) also
is missing - preventing replication. I would like to temporarily turn off auto replication and control 1 way refresh from server2 to the recovered server1 - then turn everything back on. Here is what I think I need in high level. I just need the
actual steps.
1 - Turn off auto replication
2 - Re-config IPsec tunnel to work
3 - Force 1 way replication from server2 to server1 (should carry all for both AD-users and DNS)
4 - Turn auto replication (peer-to-peer 2 way) back on.
Is this something that can be "explained" in this forum? Or is it going to be my once per year Phone call to Microsoft via technet contract.
Thank you all so much - if you can please help.
Randy S
Footnote - BTW: I don't trust Legato for overwriting all that I lost in IPsec config, AD-users, DNS etc... don't know what to grab anyway.
