Control PowerShell or even cmd.exe via serial port connection?
I am looking for a way to get an interactive shell into my Windows Server 2008 R2 server via a serial port connection... I know that in Server 2003, there were recovery mode services that enabled something similar. Being able to connect to a console very similar to what you can do on Linux is what I am after. The serial port console does not have to authenticate me. I am willing to code something if necessary, however, I'm not even sure where to start as far as getting an interactive shell is concerned. I can send / receive commands via .Net and the built-in methods for controlling COM ports, but I really need an interactive shell, not just a "send command / receive response". Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Am I missing something simple?

Not quite... I need to be able to control the Windows Server via a serial port connection. Using the network is not an option in this case.

I agreed with Syed, if you need help for powershell, the powershell forum would be a good choice. Thanks Zero Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
