Control Panel and IE slow to load
We have several XP pro workstation on a domain who are having slowness when accessing IE or Windows Explorer GUI (i.e Control Panel). It takes up to 2minutes to load any application and/or function that uses these OS interfaces. Issue goes away when the PC is unplugged from the network and/or MS networking/File and Print components are removed. No Event log errors. Clean SAV/Malware scans. No network switch errors. Re-install of NIC driver and TCP stack unsuccesful. Recent security patches removed.

Sounds very much like DNS issue. Can you post unedited ipconfig /all from client, domain controller, and DNS server? Regards, Dave Patrick .... Microsoft Certified Professional -Microsoft MVP [Windows]

Hi Robert, You may perform a clean boot of the system to isolate the Malware and 3rd party software influence. To manually perform a clean boot of your computer in Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows Server 2003, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, click Run, type msconfig, and then click OK. 2. On the General tab, click Selective Startup, and then click to clear the following check boxes: o Process SYSTEM.INI File o Process WIN.INI File o Load Startup Items 3. On the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All. 4. Click OK, and then click Restart to restart your computer.
