I have a content source setup to crawl a file server. The crawl looks good but the search results are not appearing in my site. My server is http://sharepoint and my site is http://intranet. Do I have to somehow associate that crawl source to my site c

The default result source for a built in search page is 'this site', meaning the site collection.

If you run a search from an enterprise Search centre site then the default result source is 'everything'. You will also have to check that you've got security rights to see the files to search for them, if you don't then the security trimming will obviously remove your access.

I take it that you've checked the results in the Search Adminnistration > Crawl log  and found the files you're looking for listed in there with success messages?
