Connection Refused - Error Message Trying to connect to Windows XP computer from Mac OSX

I'm trying to connect via RDP (ver 8.0.5) from my Mac (OSX 10.9.2) to a Windows PC (XP Home Edition) but continue to get a "Connection Refused" error. Some things I've already tried / verified:

-Both computers are on the same WiFi network. Subnet Mask is the same for both.

-On the Windows computer, I have the Windows firewall turned on, but have allowed "Remote Desktop" in the Exceptions.

Any ideas on how to get this to work? Is it possible the new RDP client for the MAC doestn't work with XP?

Thanks, Jimm

I'm having the exact same problem, connecting to Windows 7 Home Premium edition.  Hope someone answers...

Hi,

XP Home edition does not support incoming Remote Desktop connections.  You would need a Professional version or higher, for example, Windows 7 Pro/Ultimate/Enterprise or Windows 8.1 Pro/Enterprise.

Thanks, TP. That's what I figured after playing with it for an hour. All the recommended fixes seemed to refer to other versions of Windows.
