Connecting to a VPN at Startup
I have a remote server (running Server 2003) that functions as a doomsday backup machine. It wakes up each Friday afternoon and goes back to hibernate on Monday morning. During the on-time, backup files are loaded from the main server to the remote location. I am using a VPN to connect the remote computer to the local server. But, in order to connect to the VPN, someone on the remote end must log on (the VPN connection is included in the Statup folder). My question is this: Can I cause the VPN to run as a service and have it connect whenever the machine boots up?Thanks,Jerry

Hi Jerry,You can make use of the Resource Kit tools SRVANY.exe or INSTSRV.exe to run the VPN application as a service. Alternatively, you can launch via SCHTASKS and have it run ONSTART.Regards,Salvador Manaois IIIMCSE MCSA MCTS MCITP C|EH CIWA ----------------------------------------------------------------------------Bytes & Badz: http://badzmanaois.blogspot.comMy Passion: http://www.flickr.com/photos/badzmanaoisMy Scripting Blog: http://sgwindowsgroup.org/blogs/badz
