I have just installed and configured Windows Server 2012 with the Essential experience role configured. Everything looks fine, I can connect to the server from the client using Remote Desktop, I can use File Explorer and the login credentials to explore the shared folders - so far so good. The problem is that when I try and install the Connector software using those same credentials I get the "Cannot connect this computer to the network The server is unavailable." error.

This is a Windows 8.1 machine that used to be connected to a WHS 2011 server. Any ideas on what I might try?

Can you check the error in Connect software log files.

Should be under ProgramData (hidden)\Microsoft\WindowsServer
