Computer Browser on Server Core
I have installed Windows 2008 R2 SP1 Server Core domain controllers in Windows 2003 domain. After moving PDC emulator to a Windows 2008 DC the full server list is not being generated. I am aware that Computer Browser service is off on Windows 2008 by default, so I turned it on, but it did not help. I also verified that <1Bh> NetBIOS name is registered in WINS and replicated across all WINS servers. I verified that NetBIOS over TCP\IP is enabled on new DCs. I checked this article: http://blogs.technet.com/b/networking/archive/2008/12/16/netbios-browsing-and-windows-server-2008-x64-server-core.aspx but I could not find the xactsrv.dll on the full version of Windows 2008 either. I also disabled the firewall on the PDCe. browstat getmaster \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{BE8816E0-4018-46E1-BF7E-23923A212D99} domainname I am getting: Unable to get Master: Access is denied. No errors in the event log. Any ideas how to troubleshoot the issue?

Hi, Thank you for the post. I suggest you set "IsDomainMaster" key to "True" on PDC server and restart the computer browser service. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/136712 http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverDS/thread/cfa075e9-78d7-405b-8974-b014a90a9689 If there are more inquiries on this issue, please feel free to let us know.
