Windows 7 is available for embedded applications in a componentized form, and comes with a set of tools to build a customized version of the OS. I assumed that Server embedded would be the same, but the .iso I downloaded from this link (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsembedded/en-us/evaluate/windows-embedded-server.aspx) does not appear to be in that form. Am I incorrect in assuming that Server 2008 is available componentized? Thanks, dpm

Vincent, Thanks for your answer. However, I understand what Windows Embedded is, and in fact use it. But WE is a desktop product; what I'm trying to discover is if there is also a version of windows server that is componentized like WE. I discovered something called "Windows Embedded Server" here (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsembedded/en-us/evaluate/windows-embedded-server.aspx), but when I downloaded and ran it, it just seemed to be the standard server RTM. What makes it "embedded" I was unable to discover. Does this clarify my question? Thanks, dpm
