Company Name Change
Hi Everyone Our domain is called CHV-VDB. So we have CHV-VDB.local for logging on internally and CHV-VDB.be (belgium) for mail, webaccess,... We now are faced with a company name change. I would like the clients when they log on to see an other domain then CHV-VDB to log on to (altough they are actually still logging on to CHV-VDB via DNS). Is it possible to set the name of the new company at the windows logon screen ? Thanks

The list of domains available at logon is automatically populated and you cannot change it. You can however disable the domain list altogether you can then create UPN suffix's instead and instruct users to logon with their UPN instead. Kriss Milne, MCSE | Infrastructure Specialist

Hello, as already stated the logon cannot be chagned that easy. Domain rename or migration to another domain with the correct name is requried to change the names. UPN suffixes can be added to make it more convenient for users but thats it. Domain rename process is also depending on installed software, if you consider this please post all used server OS and installed application servers like Exchange etc. with the complete version.Best regards Meinolf Weber MVP, MCP, MCTS Microsoft MVP - Directory Services My Blog: http://msmvps.com/blogs/mweber/ Disclaimer: This posting is provided AS IS with no warranties or guarantees and confers no rights.

Hi guys Thanks for your response. I think we will continue with our domain name as it is. It doesn't weigh up to changing our whole domain. We have Oracale, SQL, Sharepoint, Exchange,... So to avoid any trouble people will see the old Company name or i will use UPN suffixes to ease the logon process. Thank you
