Communication flow when using Powershell with WSUS

I haven't been able to find any documentation that clarifies something I was pondering. I was hoping someone here could help me with my assumptions.

When using powershell to generate WSUS reports, the resultant script only communicates with the WSUS server being connected to. Correct?

As in, there shouldn't be any communication taking place with a client during the report generation aside from normal client activity. A script generating a report should be pulling information from the database, not the clients. Correct?

From my point of view, your assumptions are correct.

To verify your assumptions, just perform a network capture on the WSUS server while you run the script.

Yes, otherwise the report would not contain the data of computers who are turned off.
