Clone Server 2003 hard-drive
hi, we have a old hp server with windows server 2003 as dc. It has 2x130gb hard drive configured as RAID 0. Server drive is partitioned with C: drive as 20GB and D: 110GB which has few shares. C: drive is nearly running out of the space. Is there anyway to clone the whole disk to much larger disk like 500GB; And expand the C: drive to 80GB ? I wish I could simply move the data on D: to my other servers and demote the DC as I have 2 other Server 2008 DCs; But this server has few old financial software and has to be running. Any help would me much appreciated, thank you.

There isn't an easy/supported way to extend a disk that contains page file or system files. As a temp work around to provide more space, you could move the page file to another disk to free up space. I would look at this as an opportunity to improve this setup. If you need a 2003 machine to support financial software then build a VM and move the software(non DC). DCPromo down the 2003 DC and perform metadata cleanup and replace with 2008 DC. This will solve several core issues based on description: 1. Removes dependency on legacy hardware likely not supported by HP 2. Eliminates blocker to DC upgrade and eventual FFL upgrade to +2008 3. Solves disk partitioning 4. Better fault tolerance if hardware RAID is 0, VM will likely be on disk which has FTDave Guenthner [MSFT] This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. http://blogs.technet.com/b/davguents_blog

Certainly there have software that could clone the whole disk to a larger hard drive and that will keep all your things as the same as your previous disk have, but for server the software may cost much of money. You may have a look at AOMEI Partition Assistant server it is cheaper than other software, it is about $139 and EaseUS partition master server is about $159.
